Advanced Workshop Series with David Curtis
MASTER CLASSES FOR TEACHERS & EXPERIENCED STUDENTS
With David Curtis of Vinyasa Yoga. Our workshop series will focus on expanding our knowledge, awareness, and experience of the energy body through deep, guided physical practice and talks and discussion within each each workshop.
Our three workshops act as a series to be experienced sequentially and compliment the practice and purpose of David's 6 Week Morning Yoga Course - Vinyasa Flow in the Taoist Style:
January 12 – Part 1 – The Vayus - Apana and Vyana Vayu – The winds that move you
In this workshop we will work with principles such as pumping, shifting and weighing to build power in the legs and establish a deeper breath cycle in your forward bends. Learn how to stabilise the inner fire (agni) through stance work and meditative seats. Learn more about the subtle nature of the inner winds that govern the internal functions of the body.
February 9 – Part 2 – The Vayus - Prana and Samana – Create inner harmony and balance
In this workshop we will work with principles such as balancing, twisting and back bending to build power in the waist and chest and establish a deeper inhalation. Moving from the center begins to change the experience of how your yoga feels. When movements take place from the inside out the practice becomes more internalised and less fragmented.
April 13 – Part 3 - The Subtle Body – The Central Channels and Cultivating the Vital Center
In this workshop we will work with a linear sequence that focuses on the central channels of the spine. This prepares the breath and the spine for the inverted poses like shoulderstand and their variations. Preparatory poses will be introduced that open the waist and side body which is essential for proper inverted work.
Talks included within each workshop:
Samkhya Philosophy – One of the six schools of Indian thought- How to practically apply it
The Yin and Yang of Yoga – Cultivating the play of opposites from the inside out
Transcending the I-maker – How to transcend the Ego with the mechanism of Surrender
