Galway International Arts Festival and Róisín Dubh are delighted to announce that indie sensation Caribou will play Galway International Arts Festival in 2018.
Dan Snaith's Canadian outfit Caribou is regarded as one of the most iconic and recognisable names on the contemporary electronic circuit.
In 2010, which was the last time they played in Galway, at the Róisín Dubh, they released the universally adored album Swim, which was named ‘Album of the Year’ by Rough Trade, Mixmag and Resident Advisor whilst also hitting The Guardian, Pitchfork, Spin and Mojo's Top 20.
In 2012, Caribou were personally invited to join Radiohead on the road, whilst Dan released his first album under the guise of his dance floor loving pseudonym, Daphni, to widespread critical acclaim.
Following the shape shifting sounds of Jiaolong and the brightly textured, fluid constructions of Swim, Dan withdrew to the basement once more to work on Caribou's next opus.
Our Love isn't the sound of isolated creation but the sound of Dan at his most connected - with love for his listeners, his collaborators and those closest to him.
The album was Grammy nominated, made the UK top-ten and was named ‘Album of the Week’ by NME, Independent on Sunday and Dummy in 2014.
Caribou have spent the last three years touring the world, with their energetic and immersive live shows.
The sound of Caribou sold out stages everywhere including London’s Brixton Academy, the Olympia in Paris, Berlin’s Columbiahalle, Sydney Opera House and Glastonbury, and provided the most thrilling festival headline slots of the season, including Primavera, Field Day, Parklife and Coachella.
In 2016, they returned to the big stages on a few selected festivals in Europe, with Dan joined onstage by longtime Caribou collaborators Ryan Smith, Brad Weber and John Schmersal.
With the promise of killer tunes Can’t Do Without You, Odessa, Silver, Our Love, Melody Day and Sun sure to set the Festival Big Top sizzling this summer, Caribous’s Festival gig is one not to be missed next July.
Dan Snaith aka Caribou have created some of the most beautiful, infectious and gorgeous sounds of the past decade.
Caribou live are both spellbinding and euphoric and their Festival Big Top gig is their only Irish performance in 2018.
Caribou will play the Festival Big Top on Saturday 28 July 2018. Tickets, priced at €49.50, will go on sale on Tuesday 19/Wednesday 20 December from www.giaf.ie and roisindubh.net.
Galway International Arts Festival would like to acknowledge the support of its principal funding agencies the Arts Council and Fáilte Ireland, its Festival Partner Ulster Bank and Education Partner NUI Galway.
