This exhibition questions the freedom of movement of many people in today’s world, in light of the unsettled nature of global geo-politics. Turbulence will explore the way in which politics, power and the movement of people have historically shaped our world, and will consider contemporary concerns around post-colonialism, socio-politics, hospitality and humanity through the work of a number of important contemporary Irish and international artists.
A selection of paintings by Jack Butler Yeats, concerned with the displacement of people after World War II will be presented alongside contemporary works by Rossella Biscotti, Elaine Hoey, Gülsün Karamustafa, Naiza Khan, Eoin McHugh, Cengiz Tekin and Sarah Wood.
Turbulence is kindly supported by RTE Supporting The Arts, Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland and the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht’s Mobility of Collections Scheme.
