Bram Stoker Sligo Walking Tour
19:30 - 23:59
Join us on a social history and literary walking tour, as we discover Sligo's connection to Bram Stoker. Abraham "Bram" Stoker was an Irish author, best known for his 1897 Gothic novel Dracula. Bram's mother Charlotte Blake Thornley lived in Sligo during the Cholera Epidemic that swept through the town in 1832. Thornley was later to recount stories of the epidemic to her sickly young son. These stories of the 'undead' buried alive, of corpses piled up and pushed into pits, were to stay with Stoker. These stories helped to inspire the writing of the novel Dracula. Note: Group tours (8 or more) can be organised for other dates, please contact us to arrange by clicking on the contact link below.
