Umbrella Theatre Company returns to the National Gallery of Ireland on Saturday 25th November and Saturday 2nd December 2017 at 2.30pm with a new production, based on the life and work of the painter Frederic William Burton (1816 – 1900). Burton is the painter of Ireland's most popular painting 'The Meeting on the Turret Stairs'. This innovative production combines the talents of playwrights Michael Casey, Gerard Dalton and Celia de Fréine and is being presented in association with the National Gallery of Ireland’s own exhibition on Frederic William Burton (which runs from 25th October 2017 to 14th January 2018). The Meeting is a full length dramatisation of Burton’s life and work. A cast of eight actors will interweave Burton’s life story and bring important paintings and sketches to life to portray the interesting people he met during his lifetime.
