As a gathering of servant leaders from your expression of Serve the City, we look forward to serving and inspiring you. Our opening night welcome dinner is in the historic Christchurch Cathedral in the heart of Dublin city. Our main International Forum venue Friday & Saturday will be in the Eurofound Conference Centre in a campus setting situated 16 km south of the city-centre. Come to be inspired and experience the "céad míle fáilte" (a hundred thousand welcomes) Programme of Events: THURSDAY 25 OCTOBER – CHRISTCHURCH CATHEDRAL, CHRISTCHURCH PLACE, DUBLIN 8 – 19.00 - 21.00 Our Opening Night Welcome Dinner will be held in the crypts one of Dublin’s most famous attractions, Christchurch Cathedral! Located right in the city centre, this will be a chance to meet and mingle with fellow volunteers from afar in a beautiful and historic setting. *Dinner is included FRIDAY 26 OCTOBER/SATURDAY 27 OCTOBER – EUROFOUND CONFERENCE CENTRE – 08.30 – 18.00 The conference itself will be held in the Conference Centre of Eurofound, an Agency of the European Union. Running all day Friday and Saturday, we look forward to bringing you an exciting schedule of workshops, seminars and other events! *Lunch is included both days and dinner on Friday evening also SUNDAY 28 OCTOBER - DUBLIN CENTRAL MISSION - 9.30-12.00 The Master Class on the Sunday morning is held in the Large Hall at Dublin Central Mission, 9c Lower Abbey Street, Dublin D01 A3C4. This location is in the middle of the city centre, within walking distance of all public transport options. FAQs What are my options for travelling to Dublin? The nearest airport is Dublin Airport, which has direct connections from over 180 cities in 42 countries. There are ferry connections from the UK to Dublin Port, but these tend to be more expensive than flying. What travel documents do I need to travel to Ireland? It is the responsibility of those travelling from overseas to ensure that they have the correct documentation necessary to enter Ireland. Those who require a visa will need a Short stay conference/event visa (also called a “C” visa). What are my transport options for getting to and from Dublin airport? Public transport options are the Airlink express service from Dublin bus or the Aircoach (blue bus) . You can use the Leap visitor card (see below) on the Dublin Bus Airlink service but not on the Aircoach. There are plenty of taxis at the airport, but this can be an expensive option. Taxis to and from the airport incur an extra charge. Depending on the time of the day a single journey from Eurofound to the Airport can be up to €80. Uber is available in Dublin but is not allowed to use private hire cars. The app mostly used is MyTaxi. You can also hire a car at Dublin airport. However, bear in mind that we drive on the left. You will most likely be charged for car parking at Dublin hotels in the city centre, but this option might work if you opt to stay in suburban areas of Dublin (do check the distance to Eurofound and allow 1 hour for rush hour traffic in the morning). What are my transport options for getting to and from the event in Dublin? The most financially sound and sustainable option for you would be to purchase a 3-day Leap visitor card for €19.50. This gives unlimited travel on the Airlink bus from the airport, on Dublin bus, the Luas (tram) and the Dart (rail within Dublin) for three days. It would be best to buy this before you leave Dublin airport, either at the Bus & Travel Information Desk (T1 Arrivals) or in the Spar shop (T2 Arrivals). Public transport routes can be checked on https://www.transportforireland.ie/ . The event is held in three locations. The meal on Thursday night is held in the historic 11th century Christ Church cathedral. This is in the city centre and is accessible by every form of public transport and by car (car can be parked locally at a charge). For details see here. The conference itself on Friday and Saturday is held at Eurofound, which is located 16 km south of Dublin city centre. Eurofound is accessible by bus, Luas and by car. For the Luas you should take the green line – Brides Glen stop, this is the last stop on the line. (the ‘Sandyford’ Luas does not go as far). There is free car parking at Eurofound. Yes, we have something in mind for the early arrivals, as we have negotiated a special concession for entry to The Whiskey Museum. We will have more details on this to follow. Participants are responsible for securing their own accommodation. Dublin has lots of accommodation options to suit every budget, but please note that the conference takes place over a ‘bank holiday’ weekend and therefore we recommend that you book your accommodation as early as possible to avoid disappointment. The cheapest option is to stay in a hostel. There is a wide variety available in Dublin city centre, see here https://www.hostelworld.com/ If you are going to book a hotel, please remember that the cheapest rates are usually available if you book directly on the hotel website. For those who want to stay in a hotel in the heart of Dublin, mid-range city centre hotels include: Jurys Inn, Temple Bar Inn and Academy Plaza Hotel. There are no hotels in the immediate vicinity of Eurofound, but there are hotels in Dun Laoghaire, Killiney, Sandyford and Leopardstown that are within driving distance of Eurofound. If you prefer self-catering Staycity and Airbnb have a wide range of options available to suit every budget.
