War of the Airlines (WOA)

Join us at Morton Stadium Santry for a day of fun-fuelled physical challenges in a unique sporting event specifically created by Aviators for Aviators.
Located on the borders of Dublin Airport, Morton Stadium is the home of Irish Athletics, with international-standard track & field facilities, indoor track and gym, coffee shop and ample car parking.
The War of the Airlines is a fun, but challenging, fitness event hosted by Aviofit, a company focusing primarily on Aviator’s mental & physical wellbeing, supported by the leading European Airlines.
The event is designed for all fitness levels, with a focus on teamwork. In the build-up to the day, we will be holding a number of free training events to support and help participant’s preparation. We will also be releasing information and videos on our website around suitable training plans and the specific challenges on the day.
We welcome all airline staff to apply!
Teams will be made on the day! The Airline team who accumulates the most points will win the challenge, and earn the title of “Fittest Airline of the Year”.
The ‘decathlon’ style competition will consist of 10 challenges. The first 4 events will award scores based on individual performance (5-points, to 1-point, per event - male & female participants scored separately). The second 6 events will award scores based on team performance (also 5-points, to 1-point, per event), with the best combined team score taking the winner’s podium.
Participants will undertake a range of events, that consist of the the following individual or combination exercises (to be unveiled on the day):
1 - WOA Challenge ( to be released on the day)
2 - 20-50m sprints
3 - body-weight squats
4 - skipping
5 - burpees
6 - body-weight walking lunges
7 - push-ups (wide-arm chest)
8 - box step-ups/jumps
9 - beep test
10 - wall squat
11 - press-ups (narrow-arm triceps)
12 - plank
13 - hang-tough
Each challenge is timed, however all participants may complete the event at their own pace and fitness level.
Event date & time: Saturday 8 September 2018. Welcome, event introduction and briefing starts at 9.30am. The first event starts at 10.00am.
This event has a limited amount of places available. Please book in advance to secure your place.
All tickets are non-refundable.
Suitable for: Beginner - intermediate fitness levels, and anyone looking for an energetic challenge and to get in shape.
Event registration: Participants must be an Airline staff member (any role).
Age restrictions: All competitors must be 16-years or above.
Coffee & Food: Nutritional food stand & stadium coffee shop
Guest speaker: A guest speaker (discussing wellbeing, mental/physical health, nutrition) will be present in between the Stage 1 individual events, and the Stage 2 team events. To be confirmed soon.
Prizes: Prizes will be awarded to the winning team, and the top performing male and female competitors
