Day 1: The Head, the Neck, and Shoulder Girdle A review of the structures and functions of the head, including the face, temporomandibular joint, neck and shoulder muscles, and the pathologies often seen in clients, including tension headaches, TMJ Dysfunction, jaw pain and neuromuscular pain in the neck and shoulders. There will be a review of chronic vs. acute pain, strains, sprains, and factors that contribute to pain and dysfunction. We will also review the difference in trigger points and tender points, and what current pain science says about them. Learn posture analysis, assessment techniques and correct methods of tracking changes. To do this student should be prepared to stand for a posture analysis; underwear, bathing suit, or tight clothing such as leggings or bike shorts and sports bra are best suited for this purpose, as the purpose is to see imbalance in the body. Learn massage techniques to help relieve pain and restore movement. Day 2: The Back, Glutes, and Upper Thigh MusclesA review of the structures and functions of the spinal column, back muscles, and thigh muscles and the pathologies associated with them. Learn assessment techniques and massage sequences for treating back pain, scoliosis, sciatica, hamstring and quad strain, and other pain-causing conditions.
